Taking dummy away?

Question

How old was your child when you stopped them from having a dummy? 
My daughter is 15 months old and I'm thinking instead of taking it away completely, just restricting when she has it (nap and bedtime only). 
In the next couple of months we are moving house and having another baby which I feel are both really big events in her life and so it isn't really a suitable time to take away the only comforter she has ever had (she never took to a teddy or blanket).

I stopped giving it to him throughout the day when he was maybe 8 months and only let him have it at nap and bedtime. At 18 months a week before I took it away completely I gave him a small stuffed animal to hold. He always liked holding onto a second one.  After that I just took it away cold Turkey and surprisingly he was fine. Although it does take him a little longer to fall asleep we don’t have any other issues.

We limited to naps, bedtime, and car rides by 7 months. By 14 months we took it away and gave him a new teddy bear instead (which he never took a teddy or anything else before. The pacifier was his only comfort). After 1 day or tears he took to the teddy and now he takes that everywhere he goes. It was rough for maybe 3 days but he was completely fine after that.

We took it at 2 years old- cold turkey. He cried for a bit but we entertained him with other stuff. We did park day, museum, etc. He didn’t ask for it after day 2

My son is 22 months and has only been using it for nap and bedtime since about 15 months. I'm going to try taking it when he turns two but he's VERY attached. I tried putting him to bed without it a couple months ago and it did not go well.

My daughter only used a soother to sleep. We took it away at about 28ish months because her canine teeth were starting to tear holes in it. It took 3 days of nonstop screaming at nap and bedtime before I finally gave up and gave it back to her and she just casually popped it out of her mouth, handed it back to me and went to sleep. Never needed it again. My son never took a soother, unfortunately.

That’s the perfect age. We went cold turkey off it then and for three days sleep was hard, then no issues ever again, even when he saw other kids at school with them.
I had heard it was best to nix them before they start really talking abs boy is that spot on! Arguing with a toddler and dealing with tantrums  over big changes in the routine is the worst 😆

We limited it to sleep and car time around 18 months. We also just moved which is involving a daycare move and we’re going on vacation, just basically ruining this child’s life as much as we can in a short time, so we’re waiting to eliminate it until June or July. He turns 2 in a few weeks.

I started, with the ones of ours that took a soother, around 15months doing naps and bedtime only. It stayed in the crib and at 2 started to wean them off by snipping the end of it off little by little. At the end one of them was just holding onto it but not able to use it. They all eventually came to the conclusion that they were broken and couldn’t be fixed so they threw them out themselves and we were done with it.

We did it gradually. Around 18mo he only had it at nighttime and not naps anymore. Then at just over 2yrs, we took it away at bedtime too.
