Please let me know... is this normal???

My friend is currently 17 weeks pregnant with a little boy. She’s currently at the hospital for terrible morning sickness, they ran test and her hcg levels before going to the ER was 80,000 and dropped down to 30,000 is this normal?????

Well they dont rise the whole pregnancy. At some point after the first trimester they level back down. If they didnt tell her to worry about the number i wouldn't.

HCG is important at the very beginning of pregnancy, once baby is seen and has a heartbeat it’s irrelevant. An ultrasound will be used to check on health of baby usually from that point on. If she has concerns I’d request an US.

Around 10+ weeks the hcg doesn't rize, most likely starts dropping even. And after that usually the amount is irrelevant. Was that just a test on wider blood panel? Because it is actually usless informatsioon, if she is already 17 weeks, it only tells the er, that yes, she is pregnant. Nothing more.

Agree with other commenter. If the hospital isn’t concerned, I wouldnt be.
