C section recovery

Question

I’m having my 2nd c section and I want to be prepared this time because it was emergent last time. What are your MUST haves for after c section? 
Underwear, support band or belt, anything is great!

These pads have been a lifesaver. They absorb extra moisture around your incision and they keep the area padded for comfort so your underwear doesn’t rub. This was the size the hospital gave me, but when I got home I bought the 5”x9” size. They both work great! 
Also, I definitely prefer using adult diapers instead of pads in the beginning. I have been buying Depends Silhouette and they’re very soft and comfortable. My other favorite item has been my Blessed Nest nursing pillow. It’s filled with buckwheat so you can mold it however you need, and the extra weight feels so nice on my incision when I’m feeding my daughter. It’s also organic so that’s a big bonus.

I would recommend this style of underwear. I found the wrap to press my pooch/overhang down and move around too much and was also hot and uncomfortable to wear while sitting. Definitely make sure you have ibuprofen on hand to take with your narcotic that they give you for double/longer pain relief, and high waisted leggings are great. It’s important to walk daily after you get home to get circulation going and speed up healing-even just getting up every hour to walk in your house a bit. Be sure you shower regularly and just let soapy water run over your incision to keep it clean and dry well after-I found paper towels worked best with least amount of irritation. You can just pat it dry.
