Did speech therapy help with a MILD speech delay?

Question

Im just curious how effective it was for others in a similar situation. My twins(just under 2/ 21 months old) have a MILD speech delay. 
Understanding is average but verbally speaking they are a bit behind. 
They start therapy next week which Im super excited for!! 🥳
Im just not sure if I have high expectations.

My son started speech therapy around that age. He barely said any words and when he did say things it was unnecessary jargon. No one could hardly understand what he said most the time. He is now 6 years old and in kindergarten. He is reading on a first grade reading level and his speech is awesome! Speech therapy was very helpful for him!! He never stops talking now 🤣

I can't exactly tell out of experience, but I had a kid in my class when I was very young (3-4yo until 12 yo) and he went to speach therapy and I can remember how communicating was hard in the beginning of having him in my class and he ended up being sooo wellspoken in a few years..
I'm now 27 so 🤷🏻‍♀️ it must have made some impression on me 😁

My son is 3yrs old and is partly deaf and speech has been very helpful for him. He speaks a lot clearer definitely not perfect as it is hard for him to repeat sounds that you can't hear but it is a lot better than it was. 
If you child has good hearing and only behind a little bit, I'm sure that speech therapy will be very beneficial for them.

I am half deaf, and speech therapy worked amazingly well for me. I have so many people say they are amazed at how well I can speak, because they expected me to sign.
It also helped my sister who did not talk at over a year old. She now talks just fine.
Definitely something to look into 😊

My twins were the same they understood most everything but they didnt speak much. Speech therapy did help. Now i have another just turned 2 also speech delay starting therapy today

I can only speak from my experience with myself. I started speech therapy around 2 because I sounded like Elmer Fudd- couldn’t say  Ls, Rs, and I had a lisp. And when your first name is Jillian and you have Rs and Ss in your last name, you sound funny. My dad didn’t want me starting preschool sounding like that. It’s possible it would have self corrected, but I was talking completely normally and reading by 3.
