How can I start believing in God?

I am going through a lot right now and my last resource is to turn to God and see if maybe that will help me. But how can I start believing in God? I was raised catholic but my family was never truly that religious so I am open to turn to any other religion. Is there any books that could help me understand the Bible? Maybe some Bible study books or something like that? Please, I need help.

I started with prayer. Praying that God grants me His peace, calm and guidance to see me through my struggles. Study bibles are good and also having the Bible in audible is helpful for when you’re out and about. 
If you have any friends that attend church, maybe consider checking out their church to hear God’s word. But if that’s not possible at the moment check out sermons on YouTube. Grace to you with John MacArthur is good as well as Paul Washer.

Start by getting a Bible and reading it. Start in Matthew and do the gospels first. Pray to God, tell Him your problems and what you’re struggling with. Find a local church you like and start attending weekly. Get in contact with the pastor and say you are interested in finding out more. Find people your age in that church and see if you can join a small group or Bible study. Hope that helps!

Can I be a little blunt with you. I don't think God will just fix all your problems.
What I want to say really is that if you are turning to God then he or she will fix you then thats possibly not going to happen. 
I think that believing in God is a deeply personal and very communal activity.
I don't know what you're going through, though I understand life can be really tough. My faith has been a great strength personally and i find hope and peace in God. But life's problems... persist. 
Being aware of Divinity often provides a new and helpful perspective. Plus the community I have because of my faith is a big source of support.
If what you are looking for is some hope, that there is more to life than this (whatever your "this" entails) then faith is certainly a way forward. In terms of the how: Perhaps going and talking to the leader of a local church could help. Or speak to a friend or someone you know who has a faith.
I don't know whether this is useful or even still relevant. I tried to be kind of practical.  Either way may you be blessed with peace.

It’s as simple ask asking confessing that you are a sinner and asking Jesus to come into your heart. Saved. But that’s only the beginning. Get a Bible dive in and ask God to reveal himself to you through word of God.

Honestly if your area has a church, go. Even by yourself. People will find you and say hello, and being surrounded by that feeling/sense of community will really help. I don’t even think I believe any more…. But that feeling got me through the worst years of my life.

I agree with a lot of people posting here, start simple, start with prayer. And no prayer doesn’t have to sound like how your parents may pray or how prayer looks like in church. It can sound like talking to a friend. You might feel silly at first, but keep trying. I do it in a journal 😂 my husband was an addict before we met, feeling empty and searching for God. It was a single “conversation” begging God to help him and show him the way and it changed everything. No you will probably not hear God talking right back to you but he will bring you a sense of reassurance, joy, direction. You’ll begin to recognize Him. 
As far as diving into the Bible I LOVE the Bible app because there are study guides that actually tell you where to start what to read next etc. Makes it much less overwhelming! Best of luck, we’re here for you!

I would suggest talking to God and praying to him, asking him to let you be receiving of His spirit. Have a good long conversation with Him and tell Him what you’re going through and that you have doubts about your faith but you are trying to form a relationship with Him! After that I suggest maybe talking to others who are followers of God and they can answer any questions you may have about it. :)

Very simple: sincerely ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, admit you are a sinner, ask for His forgiveness, and purpose within yourself to follow Him. When you do that, He will send the Holy Spirit to dwell in you. 💜 Putting our full trust in Him, and Him alone (no works that we do) for our eternal salvation/destiny is the only way. But it honestly isn't anymore complicated than that [repenting, truating, following], although most Christian religions make it out to be more complicated. Because true Christianity isn't a "religion" at all, but a relationship with Christ!
Then get yourself a Bible (KJV is my recommended version) and a good study series. (Proverbs 31 Ministries has some good Bible studies to get you started.) But most importantly-- get yourself into a good, Bible believing church. (I would be happy to help you with that if you'd like.) 💜

@sarah this was me about 3 years ago but I wasn’t in church and I believed not much on God I just knew there was a God. Until I married my husband. We have been together for 10 years now and he had backslid when he was young. Things finally caught up to him to where it was he went back to church or we divorced or worse would have happened. He went on a weekend trip with his co workers for one last time and when he came back told me he was going to church with or without me. I was scared deep inside because Satan knew where I was going because I didn’t want to stay home from this. So he caused me anxiety and stress and so on. I went to soul’s harbor apostolic church on a Thursday and instantly felt Gods presence and the conviction. I was always afraid to be baptized like they spoke of in the book of acts 2:38 and just one month of being in church I was baptized and seeking for the Holy Ghost which you will know you have with the evidence of tongues because it is promised to you and your children if you obey what the word of God says and are baptized in Jesus name there is no other way.  For me to scroll passed this comment was not ￼ coincidence ￼But a confirmation to you that you need to search for a one God truth speaking baptizing in Jesus name church, an apostolic would be a start or one that is what I spoke of some are called different names just be careful you don’t get mixed with charismatics they think it’s OK to fake tongues and it’s not that’s actually blasphemy to God. I have ￼wondered why now that people are afraid of baptisms and why I was and now I know its because  when you repent and turn from the evil of this world and choose to follow God and go down sumurged in water the the precious name of Jesus the blood of Jesus is applied and when you come back up chains are broke and Satan knows he lost another one….  After them two steps then you seek for his Spirit and open your heart to him and let him fill you with the promise with evidence of speaking in other tongues and these signs will follow to them that believe..
