What age?

Question

What age should you start talking to your child about strangers touching him? Specifically assault. I really hope this never happens to him, but you know just in case I’d want him to tell me if someone touches him inappropriately. 
And how would you go about it?

Since birth. Even before she could understand we talked about it during diaper changes and baths at times. Have always taught personal space and consent and that of you say no you need to find an adult. She now 27 months and knows what her body parts are and what is ok touching. She also knows she can say no to hugs/kisses/touches and be listened to and if she isn't to find one of her adults and tell them. We never did it in a scary way just talking and conversations.

I was abused so early on. My husband and I have talked to our daughter from birth. She’s 28 months right now and we tell her still. Especially in the shower and while we’re wiping her. We tell her that is her vagina and butt and NO ONE is allowed to touch her there only mommy and daddy to wipe her and give her a bath. As she gets older we’ll continue this convo but more specific as she understands.

At my son’s 2 year checkup his doctor surprised me by saying “I’m going to check your penis now, that means I’m taking your diaper off. No one should ever look at you here or touch you here unless your mommy or daddy knows about it.”
She didn’t say anything directly to me but I absolutely know it was for my benefit to let me know it was time to start that. 
So...according to my pediatrician age 2 😆
For sure, once they’re aware enough of their body to be curious about potty training or to be potty trained, it’s time to lay that foundation of privacy and private parts and who should and shouldn’t see them.

I think it’s best to just start talking about boundaries and how it shouldn’t be ok for anyone to touch or grab specific areas. When they’re old enough to understand limits and what not

My daughter is two and when she says no while I'm tickling her, I stop immediately and say, "OK, you said no and I will respect that."   Start them young to know they get to decide what is done to their body and they can comfortably and confidently say no whenever they choose.
