I was reading an article about a photoshoot Kendall Jenner did for her new tequila brand and how people were saying it was another instance of cultural appropriation. These are the Kardashians though.. so what really caught my eye was a tweet stating that her tequila venture was actually hurting local families in the Jalisco region.

Other than wine, I’m not a big drinker so I didn’t really realize that authentic tequila could only be made in certain regions of Mexico. I found another article about the importance of tequila in Mexico:

From what I’ve found: George Clooney, Dwayne Johnson, Nick Jonas, and Sean Combs also all have their own tequila brands. Do you think this influx of celebrity tequila making should be labeled as gentrification?
