I was scheduled to be induced due to gestational diabetes on May 17th. At my last prenatal my midwife suggested I go in the night before for cervical ripening since my cervix wasn't favorable for induction. Well the hospital was booked for Sunday night so I remained on the schedule for Monday morning to start. However I was on call if a bed were to open up. I called the hospital on May 16th they told me it didn't look like they would be able to take me that night. So I went about my day then at 7pm the hospital called and said they had a cancelation and wanted to know if I was interested in coming in.. well of course I was.. so I rushed to get all my stuff in the car and take my kids to my parents house. I get there at about 8:15pm and get settled in.. cervical check shows no change 2cm dilated 50% effaced and at about -2 station.. they allowed me to eat some food from the nurse station. At about 9pm they gave me my first dose of misoprostol they gave me another dose at about 1am.. they warned me that sometimes the misoprostol can jump start labor without the need for pitocin which is exactly what happened to me. I tried laboring in the tub but the contractions were so strong I opted for the epidural. Once I got my epidural in and was pain free they checked me I was then at 7cm 100% effaced and 0 station. My water broke shortly after that. They checked me again at 9am and noticed one spot of my water wasn't broken so they broke it that's when they said I was ready and to try some practice pushes.. I tried a couple times and again the midwife was like yup let's have a baby... I pushed through one more contraction she told me to wait as she put her other glove on.. my baby girl had other plans and my body just naturally pushed her out. At 10:46am on May 17th my baby girl was born.
