Car Seat Safety

My mother in law has always made sure my son was rear facing, but now he has turned two. The second that happened, she is now using a different car seat that is forward facing. I am extremely uncomfortable with this and am thinking of buying her a new car seat. One, because it’ll be easier to make sure he is rear facing in something that I buy and install in her car, and two, because I honestly don’t even know how old that car seat is and when it expires.

My husband does not agree with still keeping him rear facing, and honestly I haven’t even done much research about it, I have just heard so much that you should keep them rear facing for as long as possible.

So please, send me all the links, studies, tests, everything. So I can do research for myself, and my husband and mother in law. Even send me some research on the other side if there is any, on that it’s really not a big deal to rear face after two.
