Wedding opinions

My fiancé and I want to be married soon but I also want a small wedding. It’s hard. Our families are in two different states. Mine Texas. His Alabama. I want them both there at least our immediate family.

Has anyone been married quick but then later had the actual wedding?

Should we wait to have the wedding since it’s something we both want or is it doable to be married and then do the ceremony?

Thoughts. Ideas. I don’t want to NOT have a wedding and I’m scared if we get married before we won’t have one.
