Anxious about going to the gym :/
Hi everyone! I’ve really been wanting to go to the gym to do the 12/3/30 treadmill workout from TikTok. My mom is a bit of a COVID warrior, so the only gym I can go to is the one in my neighborhood because I can disguise it as going for a walk around the neighborhood (I’m 21 btw! Not a minor or anything, just got a strict mom haha). Today was the first day I tried to go, but the only people there were about seven high school boys and a few men. Everyone stared at me when I walked in. It was also pretty small in there. Then I noticed that most of the equipment is facing the treadmills. I’ve only gone to the gym a few times at my college but there wasn’t any equipment facing the treadmills. Plus it was way less compact than the gym in my neighborhood. I ended up leaning against the wall for a few minutes until I just left altogether. Idk it just makes me feel uncomfortable to know that people are gonna be facing me while I’m working out. I’m pretty new at going to the gym and don’t want people to have a front row seat to see me mess up or struggle to keep going. Do you have any advice for an awkward newbie like me? Should I just give up on going to the gym right now and wait until I’m back on campus in two months?
