I think my toddler is bored...

He is 2 years and 8 months old. He knows the ABCs, can identify each letter, counts to 20 and identifies the numbers individually, has a really large vocabulary(I stopped counting almost a year ago), can identify pictures with the word, speaks well with others(children and adults), is active with bike and scooter riding but prefers to be inside at home. He always is talking or making sounds. He loves cars and trains, sometimes plays with legos, he is really good at puzzles(so far only gone up to about 60 pieces), likes being read to, asks what the words say and then repeats it, started to make up words as if pretending to read it.

But he seems to be getting antsy and I think he is bored. He doesn’t go to a daycare or preschool and likely won’t for another 1-2 years or might not be in that kind of setting until kindergarten. So please give advice. It is easy to get him to sit down and learn new things. He loves it. But I also am conscious of him being too far ahead before starting school. Because I think him being bored in a classroom will be worse than me dealing with it at home. Any and all advice welcome and very much appreciated.

Edit: I agree independent play is very important. He is excellent at finding things to do and entertaining himself. Has been good at this for a year already. But I just think he needs new activities, yearning to learn more but I don’t know what direction to go in so that #1: It is age appropriate and #2: doesn’t set him up for being too far ahead as I have been advised before that this could backfire once he reaches a classroom setting.

Update Edit: we go outside everyday(even rainy days) and always follow his lead. He loves “picking rocks” and laying them in shapes on the ground. Did the same with dandelions but those are all gone now. We use bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Everyday we go for a walk and just wander. Knows most of the car brands and likes to look at the cars in detail. We do go to outdoor playgrounds at least twice a week. Indoor playgrounds are still closed(still in a partial lockdown). Play groups are not an option yet either but he does play piano and guitar so when it is possible that’s something he will probably like.

I can see him getting kind of antsy. We had a routine that we sat down and did some sort of activity but since we have a different dynamic in our house now, it hasn’t fit in well yet.
