Breakup- Christian differences are too much.

So my boyfriend broke up with me this last Thursday, we had been together almost 3 months, so not a long time but still enough to catch feelings for each other. We both met on a Christian dating app called Upward, I am nondenominational And he is seventh day Adventist. As a seventh day Adventist, there are a lot of things you cannot do. He was against dancing (his sister was not allowed to have a quinceneria because they are against dancing,) his family didn’t celebrate Halloween. No shrimp or shellfish, pork etc. Heavily against gay marriage and did not like Muslim people.

I am pretty much almost the opposite of him, my family is full of different people and I pretty much found Christianity on my own. My family eats pork, seafood etc and I believe being gay is something between that person and God and I have no right to tell them what to do. Also my family loves to dance.

He didn’t want me to drink any alcohol at all as he said any kind of alcohol is a sin, he didn’t want me to get a tattoo, cut my hair, dance, etc. I did feel really constricted being with him. He wanted to use a belt on our future kids which I was against. I don’t like abuse and I don’t want to hit our kids.

We are very different but I still miss him. I don’t think he is a bad person, but his beliefs I just couldn’t stand for the most part. It was too much of his identity in order for it to work out I guess.
