Like do they go looking for love in the streets? And then end up falling for anybody ?

Yes. Yes we do absolutley. Sometimes we get lucky and find a gem who gives us all they've and acceptance we need....but usually not before we allow ourselves to get crushed by a few opportunistic potatoes who know we are weak and just want love....so they exploit. 
If you are in this position just proceed with caution and do stand up for yourself. Demand love.

Not necessarily, but many do. Or just look for attention often in strange ways

I do think it happens for some people especially in the wrong places. 
It’s the one thing for me that I wanted to avoid so I didn’t end up being blinded by love in an abusive relationship. I lacked love from my father so I made a mental list of who to avoid when dating, know the signs and red flags.

Some do, some not. Therapy definitely helps.
