Be surprised or find out?

Question

My husband and I will be getting our gender results back in a few weeks and we aren’t sure if we want to be surprised (let my mom host a gender reveal that she’s been begging for) or to just read the results privately in our own time/let everyone else know after the fact. 
Some of our friends that have babies say there’s no better feeling than being surprised with friends/family, others say they preferred having that special moment to find out before everyone else. 
What did you guys do? How did you decide? We honestly can’t decide and are torn. Either way we’ll be happy with the sex of the baby. It took us a long time to conceive, so we’re just happy that it’s finally our turn to have a baby. ❤️

Each had its advantages and disadvantages. Loved the gender reveAl probably the most as everyone found out together. Not knowing this time round but being high risk with extra scans has been hard not finding out… and having the will power to close ur eyes and not watch when they tell u… but a little over a week to go and I can’t wait now. It’s probably a boy but still gonna be a wild ride giving birth and seeing what it is at the end

I’ve done it both ways, with my first we did a big gender reveal with friends and family, and with my second we just had the doctor write it down and we opened it when we got home. Both were good, but I wish we would have done something more the second time. Not necessarily have a party, but at least do a more creative reveal like cutting into a cake or opening a box of balloons like we did the first time to make the moment a bit more exciting. It’s really a personal choice and whatever is going to make it the most special for the two of you.

With my daughter we had a gender reveal, and with this baby we decided that we (me and my bf) would be the only ones to know the gender, and announce to everyone else when the baby is born, and honestly both ways have been exciting. When they called me and told me the gender I had the same feeling as when we did the gender reveal with my daughter
