Those that are working in hospitals?

Question

How is it working in the hospitals with Covid-19? I’m currently studying a health care course and awaiting to do my practicals , I’m starting soon!! I just wanted to find out how is it with working with Covid patients and stuff?
EDIT: I live  in South Africa and COVID-19 has gotten bad because  we currently experiencing the 3RD wave of Covid-19!

I worked exclusively with Covid patients for months. I never contracted Covid. Just wash your hands properly, wear the correct PPE, don & doff it correctly and you’ll be fine. I had some very severe cases that I worked with. The patients were so sick and couldn’t breath, move or do much for themselves. It can be hard to watch because you feel badly for them. But I was never afraid of getting it so I never hesitated to do anything they needed me to do for them. Things are much better now and the symptoms of those that are positive are way less severe at this point. Just protect yourself and treat them like everyone else, regardless of what virus or disease they may have. You’ll be fine.

It depends on the area of the country you live in and the field you’re working in.
In Pediatrics, for suspected or confirmed COVID patients you wear full PPE, but overall we really have not had many or even many severe COVID cases.
Otherwise we are still required to wear a mask and eye protection with every patient and a mask all day, even in non clinical settings.
