What was the reason you couldn’t breastfeed?

If you tried to breastfeed or was set on it your whole pregnancy and it didn’t work out for you or your baby what was the reason. I’m just wondering because every time I tell people that I’m going to breastfeed they always say that they said the same thing and it might not work out I just want to be prepared for anything that may happen.

I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to, but wanted to give it a try.
Baby could not latch properly no matter what we tried! My nipples would bleed and bruise and she wasn’t getting enough food.
Saw 2 different lactation consultants and realized she had an underdeveloped palate.
I ended up exclusively pumping for 5 months, and then giving her half frozen breast milk from my freezer storage and half formula for another month and now she’s on just formula.
Proud of myself for trying even though it hurt and proud of myself for pumping as long as I did!

Sincerely didn’t want to the first time. Couldn’t the second and third time and I exclusively pumped for my fourth and same for my fifth.

With my first I planned on it the entire pregnancy, he was born and had some latching issues. I wasn't nearly as educated as I could've been, and I was under high stress with no support for my decision to breastfeed. I made it about a week. My supply dried up on it's own. 
My second, I made it 7 1/2 months with several months supply stored. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and was recommended to stop due to the current pregnancy. 
When this one is born I havent made the decision to breastfeed or formula feed yet. For me personally, the whole process is extremely draining physically and mentally.

Breastfeeding is hard work, it takes a lot of effort for some. You should definitely get with a lactation consultant to set you up the best possible Way. I breastfed my first for over 2.5 years, my second 1.5 years and currently still going strong with my third and he'll be a year next month.

My daughter would NOT latch, I tried for a month before giving up. She would scream so loud because she was hungry but wouldn’t latch I think because my boobs are super big and soft (they move around a lot) and my nipples are sort of flat. I tried the nipple guards, I tried pumping beforehand, I just couldn’t keep up. With next baby I am gonna try extra hard and buy some products I found online that might help. I hope I can breastfeed 🥺

With my daughter my ppd wasn’t going away and I decided to quit and I felt better at 4 months. With my son I decided I would try but he ended up being in the nicu so I was exclusively pumping and that took a toll on my mental health and I ended up quitting at 8 weeks.

So my first were premies twins. My boobs would let out milk like a firehose! They would drown trying to feel so i was told to bottle feed to contol flow white they got a bit bigger then i got used to pumping. Then they were needing supplemental formula because they were premies so they told me to formula feed every other feeding. Eventually pumping and bottle feeding and formula was just too much so i just formula fed after like 4 months. 
W my next baby i breastfed for 6 months and then was touched out. So i decided to stop. I had twin 2 year olds and a newborn i just needed to not be touched it was driving me crazy so i just stopped. 
Now pregnant and hoping to breastfeed again for aslong as j can I honestly love breastfeeding i feel like its easier than formula tbh! Middle of the night baby wants ti feed just pop out a boob and thats it! Baby wearing and cleaning and baby wants to feed same deal no need to stop just pop out a boob. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Breastfeeding isn’t easy for everyone. I went through a lot of pain and bleeding and trouble with my baby latching.. I even cried some days but I didn’t give up and now I’m almost 100 days exclusively breastfeeding 🥲 if it’s really what you want to do don’t let people make you believe that you can’t do it, even when it gets really tough just keep trying 💛
