Hi moms!! Does this seem okay or normal?

My son is a week old today and his umbilical cord is like this. Is this okay? I don’t even remember anymore if my first born was like this or not. What can i do for this?

My daughter’s looked very similar to this. I think it was getting caught on her clothes because she’s always been super wiggly. One day after I nursed her I looked down and realized it had come off while she was nursing after she’d been especially fitful and wiggly so I think she rubbed it off. It still continued to ooze a little blood off and on but I just kept a close eye for any signs of infection and it ended up healing great!

It looks a little irritated but still normal.  Just make sure to leave it alone yet.  If you notice any odors or redness spreading from it, then it’s time to get it looked at xx

It looks like it’s been tugged on. Q-tips and Vaseline will help clean up the blood. I’d just be super careful with it. It may need to be iodized (not sure if that’s what it’s called) by the doctor
