Switching to formula?

Ik a lot of people will tell me to push through but my mental is extremely important for not only me but my child as well. Would it be ok to switch baby to straight formula at 5 days old? If so what should I prepare to happen to my boobs(changes etc)?

I switched to formula at about about two weeks because it was mentally and physically to much. 
It’s perfectly ok! Fed is best. Do what is best for you.

Ok, I couldn’t breastfeed my son due to medication I was given when I almost died from heart failure brought on by pre e. Anyway, It was painful when my milk came in for a few days but I was told to not touch my breasts. Don’t even let the water from the shower touch them. Turn ur back to the water. I was also told to use cold cabbage leaves, I didn’t even need it. My breasts were gigantic for about a week. Then my milk dried up, pain went away. My son and I are incredibly bonded with each other and always have been. He’s 3.5 and amazing. He’s sweet, super smart and hilarious. He’s also very healthy thank goodness. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty or bad about your choice. I’m so grateful formula exists. Also, my Mom practically tortured herself to EBF me in the ‘80’s and after months of ppd and no sleep at all. Finally my Dad made a bottle and handed it to her. She fed me, I instantly sucked it down and passed out. She got a full nights sleep for the first time. And continued to formula feed. Her ppd went away. My Mother has always been the best Mom I know. Hang in there. Baby will be happy if you are happy and taking the best care of yourself.

Do whatever you want to do! 
As long as your baby is fed :)
Your boobs may become hard and engorged soon. 
I would gently hand express(squeeze a little milk out) in the shower just to relive some pressure.
Wear a tighter fitting sports bra and use some cold cabbage leaves in them to dry up the milk.

Breastfeeding isn’t for everyone and millions of babies survive formula. If that’s your choice call your pediatrician, even if it’s after hours, and they can help make a plan. Feeding your child is the most important thing and formula is better than nothing. I don’t think your making a bad choice and I hope you don’t caring guilt about it either. If you want to push through and want help you can private message me and I’ll do what I can to help you. My experience was horrific but I did decide to push through and would be happy to share my story with you. But ABSOLUTELY no pressure it’s just an option.

Fed is best. The formula shaming has got to stop. Some people cannot mentally handle the stress of breastfeeding. I can't. I usually last a few months before I just HAVE to stop. I feel like a failure each time, this is my third baby, but it is what it is and you tried. If it's making you unhappy, absolutely switch.

I had to switch my baby to straight formula after he developed a dairy allergy. I felt awful at first because my boobs were so engorged. It hurt to even lay down. I’m on day 3 no pumping or anything and the pain is bearable. As to baby being so little? Formula is perfectly fine. A lot of women don’t give their lo’s breastmilk at all and just give them formula straight from birth.

You absolutely do what’s best for your situation! Don’t worry about others. I wore a good fitting bra (not tight) and I dried up in like 2 days… I never did cabbage or anything. I just didn’t let anything stimulate like no warm water, mostly cold. I never got engorged or anything.
