Is your Dr checking your cervix?

So I’m 38 weeks at my appt today they haven’t checked my cervix since 35 weeks… anyone else?
Update: I asked them to check and I’m 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced! Come out on buddy!

Cervix checks aren’t necessary and can increase chances of infection. So they are not as routine as they once were. But most drs are happy to if you ask. Plus, I know for me it’s just nice knowing what’s going on down there haha

My midwives won’t unless we ask. And even then they kind of discourage it. Only because it’s not at  all a reliable indicator of labor. It tends to get mom’s hopes up or discourage them.
Actually, my midwives won’t even check me when I’m in active labor unless they think I might not be progressing for some reason, and then they’ll check more to see baby’s position than to see how dilated I am.

I asked my doctor to check but she said she won't till minimum of 39 weeks. I get frustrated reading about everyone who knows if they are dialated by 37 weeks etc... I know dilation doesn't tell you much about if your going to go into labor but if like to know if my body is taking the right steps towards labor! It was like pulling teeth to get them to answer if baby is engaged or not and even then it's yeah baby's head is low or yeah I feel her head there no actual information:(

My Dr only checks at 35 or 36 weeks. I request to be checked every week and so far I've been 1cm and 50% for 3 weeks now.

My doctor doesn’t usually do them until 38 weeks unless I request or he thinks there’s a reason to check. If your wanting checks definitely bring it up!
