Does adding drink mixes (such a crystal light or mio) to water make it juice or flavored water?

Husband & I are having a debate: Once you put that crystal light powder into water… is it flavored water or juice?

Literally the only way I can drink water is to flavor it so I usually buy crystal light or those mio liquid things but he says that doesn’t count because it just makes the water juice….

It’s not just flavored water. It’s not juice either though. It’s more like a slurry of different acids and artificial sweeteners and preservatives.

Juice is a liquid that comes from a fruit or vegetable by definition. So a flavor packet regardless if there is sugar in it or not does not make it juice. Could it be the same nutritional value of juice, maybe if it had a lot of sugar. But it still doesn’t make it juice.

It’s juice. You’re adding a syrup or powered sugar to water to make juice. For example when you add lemon to water it’s lemon flavored water. When you add lemon and sugar to water it’s lemonade aka juice

Apple juice/other juices have anywhere between 20-40g of sugar. Flavor packets have maybe 1g of sugar? (if that, considering most use zero calorie sweeteners) So no I do not consider that juice 😂

I call it juice. Flavored water is just juice.  Just not as sweet.
