Autism Screening

My son is almost 25 months and doesn’t talk (as in true words, only babbles) or uses gestures. He’s already been assessed by a speech therapist and they diagnosed him with Mixed Receptive-Expressive Language Disorder and put him at the level of a 9-12 month old. He has started seeing the speech therapist regularly and we’re hoping it helps. Anyway, at our wellness check his pediatrician strongly recommended he get screened for autism. I’m completely on board just to know but my husband seems like he doesn’t want to. Has anyone had their little screened yet and if so what is the process? My sons doctor gave me a number to set up an appointment and I’m probably going to call whether my husband wants to or not because I think it’s important information to have but was curious if anyone else is in the same boat?
