Birthday traditions? First birthday coming up

Is there any birthday traditions you do with your family before or the day of? I want to do something with my Daughter other than gifts and party of course. Do you get them something every year that’s sentimental? Go somewhere? Do a video or picture?

Starting with my son’s first birthday, I got him a balloon and took a picture of him with it. Second birthday, samee picture but two balloons, third birthday three balloons, etc.

For my son’s first bday we came into him room with a balloon and sang happy bday to him. I’m planning on doing that every year. This year we’ll come in with a little cupcake and candle for him to blow it.

Kinda basic, but we always go out to dinner for our bdays. My dad and I share a birthday. My daughter is the day after and my mom and sister are a day apart and my other sister is a week later. We always celebrate half birthdays too. Since we’re all so close date wise,  we get half cakes for our half bday. My dads always said 2 halves make a whole so if we celebrate half way each time we get a whole birthday. That’s my family’s weird little birthday tradition lol
