Any other first time mums decided if they'll be returning to work?

Question

I'm currently 18 weeks and will be on Maternity leave from December. I've worked since I was 17 and now am 25. Can't imagine not working but at the same time can't imagine wanting to give my baby to someone else to look after. Anyone else in the same position?

I also worked a full time job since I was 17. Had my first baby at 28 and decided not to go back. Sometimes I miss the socialization, but overall I love being home with my son. We could do it financially also, so I don’t regret it at all.

I always said I would return back to work after my maternity leave is over and I’m still going to but honestly don’t want to. I don’t want to leave my child with anyone either but luckily my husband will be working night and me days so hopefully it will work out.

I took 12 weeks off but unpaid because I was part time. 6 weeks maternity and 6 weeks bonding with baby. when I went back to work it worked for me because dad was out of a job. i’d just find someone you REALLY trust. I hated going back even with dad watching but if you gotta work you just have to work. and the thought of putting my newborn in daycare was out of the question it would kill me

I wish I could choose but we’ve run the math several times but unfortunately we can’t afford for me to stay home or even work part time. It’s been frustrating to say the least because we worked out care with grandparents for 3 days a week but there’s literally no daycares in our city that take infants part time and a baby sitter two days a week costs the same as full time daycare.

I stayed home for a year after having my twins, and 4 months after having my youngest and after baby #4 is born I’ll be home for 3-4 years as long as we budget accordingly.

I am hoping it will work out to stay home, I’m only 6 weeks so we’re still sorting - but I just don’t think I have it in me to leave a baby with someone else- not a stranger at least. I do plan on going back to school and eventually work of some sort once kids are in school, I would love to help my husband get us to a place where we could retire early, but I think kids will be a lot of work and I’d like to give them the full attention of at least one of us, my husband isn’t interested in being a SAHD, and I would love to so it works out.

So I would love to be able to stay at home a raise out baby. At least for the first two years. But I accumulated student loans before I married my husband and I just got a fantastic job. So I plan on paying those off without having to rely on my husband. It feels wrong if I expect him to pay those. So I will be going back to work. That was my first commitment so I have to honor it

Yes, I’ll be returning to work whether it’s full time or part time. We both agreed that we do not want to enroll baby boy into daycare until he can speak, so we are going to try doing opposite shifts to see how that works and if that doesn’t work then thankfully my fiancé is okay with being a stay at home dad. I make more money then him so it only makes sense that I go to work, plus I couldn’t imagine not working. I love my job.

I couldn’t imagine leaving my job…I got lucky and my husband has always thought it would be cool to be a stay at home dad so I got the best situation I could ask for. I will be off from end of October through beginning of January but then I’ll go back to work after the holidays.
