Willow or Elvie?

With baby #2 on the way I’m leaning towards just EP’ing and skipping trying to BF. With that being said I have the Spectra S2 but would love a hands free pump so I’m not attached to the wall.  Pros and Cons of each pump? I’m very undecided!

I’m due with #2 in 7 weeks and really thought about purchasing one of those. But if this baby is anything like my last that I exclusively pumped with, the amount these pumps hold would not work well, since I would pump well over 5 oz each side/pump session. 
With my first I still used a pretty hands free method though. I purchased a baby buddha pump which is very small, cord free(not tube free,) and would either use my regular flanges or at times would use collection cups like the freemie cups. If you’re interested, that’s another option that is much cheaper.

Thought these were baby names 😂 I had the s2 my first child and got the s1 for my second. It’s not hands free but it holds a charge for a long time and you can carry it around. I loved it

I have an S2 and Motif. I also have a Modela but I’ve retired it. For my hands free, I have a Babybella and Legendairy cups. I love them!! They are so comfy, super easy to wear and I feel like the Babybella is cheap enough to where when the motor runs it’s course, I don’t mind buying another!

If you pump more than 5oz on each side I don’t recommend either. I wasted my money on my elvie and absolutely hate it because my bottles are full in like 5 minutes and I have to dump them and mine have leaked all over the place before. I just ordered the baby Buddha and legendairy cups so hopefully that works better for me! But I will say I would love elvie if my supply wasn’t so massive! I’ve heard you’re able to move around better with the willow though. I still have to be aware of bending and stretching with the elvie and it’s hard to hold my daughter with them on.

My Elvie’s don’t work well ( I get 1 oz total where with my regular pump I can get 4oz.)  I still need to go through the trouble shooting process. I’ve heard others say there’s a learning curve but I wish I could just return them. Getting the phalange size right, and replacing parts warped in the cleaning process is apparently an issue. Also I’m not sure what elastic nipples truly are but lots of women with them say the Elvie’s don’t work well. There’s a Facebook support group for them if you want more research. Some women love them in that support group but I’m thinking they don’t have baseline low supply problems or the other problems noted above.
