I commented on somebody’s post and it got me to thinking. It has nothing to do with me so I just want your absolute point of view on this. Do you view marriage or a child as a bigger commitment? Also why do you think some will have a child but not get married? Explain your thoughts/views or even personal experience on this! I want to hear it all. How can someone be ready for a child but not marriage? I feel that could be toxic!

Some people think getting married is pointless as the commitment is there regardless. It's just a piece of paper and you don't need apiece of paper to show your love... Just like people don't need presents to...
I think having a baby is. You can divorce your spouse but a baby is different.

A child SHOULD BE a big commitment but for many its not. Same goes for marriage. It fully depends on the people in the relationship.

In my opinion the two are a big commitment.  I decided that I will make my husband my family even before we got married. That means that he is now a part of my life just as much as my kids are a part of my life. Of course this days people just get a divorce if things don't turn out the way they imagined it, but for me this is not an option. He is my family and I do not just walk away from family, just as much I would not walk away from my kids. The two are decision that will change your life and they are not to be made lightly. I also know a few people that have decided not to get married but are more committed than some people who are married. I don't think not wanting to get married is toxic, because it doesn't guarantee that someone will stay committed. Commitment comes from the heart, I would still be committed the same way to my husband if we wouldn't be married a paper doesn't change anything.

A child is a much bigger commitment.
So, I wouldn't have a child, but I would have a relationship, maybe a marriage, not sure.
I don't really understand why some people want to have children but not get married, it doesn't seem like a good idea or to make sense- unless it's simply that nobody can even afford to get married.

Well because my husband is the most important thing and person ever to me he is always is my most important so my commitment to him is a priority.
Does that mean I don't love our son born last July?. Of course I do and my husband does too. Does it mean we don't love our daughter due this November?. Of course we do!.
Some couples are different.
A lot of people say their children are their most important and less say their partner is but I think society has made it so some find it uncomfortable to say their partner is there priority. If people were truly honest.
Without a doubt both are a huge commitment!.
Children change your lives.
So does being with the person you love. For the better.
I guess because of how I feel about my husband then that is my bigger commitment. :).
This is also my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own!.

Personally, I wish I hadn’t gotten married because being married just meant that we were together from a legal point of view. Him and his parents (who we had to live with since we were only 18 when I got pregnant) expected me to basically pick up where his mother left off on wiping his ass (he was an only child) and now that we’re getting divorced, I feel it’s much more difficult to get my daughter for the amount of time I feel is appropriate. With him being babied all the way up until I moved in, he isn’t a father to our daughter but more like a sibling to her. Works part time, is still babied by his mother, spends all his money on fast food or Xbox games, has his parent buy all her stuff which turns into them buying the wrong sizes for her. I just feel like I wouldn’t have to deal with all of this BS if I just had her and did everything on my own like I was when I was with him. Not to mention it wouldve helped my mental and emotional health not feeling like I’m raising my kid and someone elses all at the same time. It’s honestly just a horrible mess and I hate all of it

A lot of ppl dont care for marriage anymore. Personally i wanted a marriage and to have the title of wife and husband  personally i wouldnt have a child with someone i wasnt married to though.

Also a lot of people don’t see the point in marriage since you can get divorced and it’s just a bunch of legal stuff (which depending on your situation may not be helpful).I think a lot of people don’t fully realize the commitment having a child with a person is. You’re stuck with your child’s other parent for life.
