What to do if toddler stung by a bee

My 3 year old hasnt ever been stung by a bee but we have so many here I'm on high alert. When I was a kid my mom always gave me Benadryl when I got stung. My mom is deathly allergic and has almost died from a bee sting . My husband is also allergic so I worry my son may be as well. I asked his pediatrician about it and she couldn't give me a confident answer ! (We are switching because of this ). She said ' well i guess maybe benadryl? That's a good question' and said he SHOULD be ok with that but didn't sound sure at all!  
Does anyone here know ? Or has anyone's pediatrician told them what to do if their baby or toddler gets stung? I mostly ask because I know Benadryl is for older kids and it says on the bottle not for kids under 6. But I know a reaction can happen so fast like it did for my mom when she was a kid and they had to call 911.

Two of my kids were stung for the first time recently, age 4 and age 1. There are bee allergies on both sides of our immediate family. We kept a close eye and had Benadryl on standby, but didn’t give it because neither showed signs of reaction. My 4 year old is tiny, and my 1 year old is....well 1, so I didn’t wanna just give it to them arbitrarily. No reactions, thank goodness. 😬

My grandmother was deathly allergic, always had to carry an EpiPen and had to use it several times. Once on the farm she was digging and hit an underground hive. Scared the piss out of 8 yr old me. Thankfully she always had an EpiPen around her neck. 
My dad and my brother are allergic but not deathly. They just need benadryl and they're fine. 
For me I'm not allergic at all. Not even slightly. Just some baking soda paste on the sting site and I'm back at it again. 
That said we currently live on a ranch. Bees and wasps and yellow jackets everywhere. Thankfully 3 yr old hasn't been stung yet but damn I dread the day she does. I'm not sure if she will be allergic and to what degree if she is. It's all a guessing game. Just give benadryl as directed and keep an eye on your kiddo. If it seems like they need to go in, don't be afraid to take them in.

Hopefully it doesn’t happen. If it does keep a eye on him. I have given Benadryl to my youngest when he was two as directed by a doctor. The doctor most likely said maybe Benadryl as he may be fine if or Benadryl may not be enough. I’m allergic to bee stings and all I need is Benadryl. So it’s hard to know at this time. ￼
