Your wedding proposal ?

I was wondering how your wedding proposal go . 
Option 1 - you had to give them hints about wanting a proposal . 
Option 2- They surprised you with a proposal / did it naturally, without you asking or hinting anything  . 
Option 3- you had to give them an ultimatum because it was taking too long .
Option 4- You both already agreed specifically on the year you want to get engaged and things went as planned .

I never wanted to get married growing up and had a very dark view of relationships because of the environment I grew up in. With that said my then boyfriend proposed to me after my baby shower for my first baby 😆. I declined because I was terrified of getting married and forming a family with him (I had A LOT of trauma based toxic behaviors back then). Then we had our second child. After a couple of years we separated and then I got really sick. I had a lot of hereditary and chronic health problems that all decided to act up at once and I had to do loads of cancer treatments. I had a 'friend' that took advantage of my health issues causing gaps in my memory and my body going into autopilot mode and took me to the courthouse and we got married. Legit the day he took me there we were married, I NEVER knew it was possible to do it that fast. I ended up being abused for a couple of years by this POS and his family until I was so unwell that I couldn't even stand on my own. He dumped me at my parents and filed for divorce. After years of therapy and talking, the father of my children and I decided to give us another go. We have moved in together to a beautiful home and are raising our kids as healthy adults in a loving home now. I had a really rough year several years ago and my boyfriend decided to try proposing one more time and this time I said yes. Truly and honestly being ready because I had healed so much that I knew this union was a good one. We were watching Howl's moving castle and when the main character is given the ring by Howl was when I was presented with mine. It's a beautiful heirloom piece from my husband's great great grandmother from his mother's side. It's a simple thin band with a single diamond set in it, it's so lovely. We finished the movie with goofy grins on our faces and then he took me to dinner and when we pulled up to the restaurant my whole family was waiting for us. He had told them I said yes so they decided to celebrate with a huge dinner at my favorite restaurant. It was such a beautiful day and I get that goofy grin every time I remember it

For my, then boyfriends, birthday I bought him tickets for us to go see Elton John on his farewell tour and our song as a couple is Your Song and when Elton John started singing it my husband got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! We’ve been married a year and a half and have a son named Elton now 🥰

A mixture between 1 & 2. We had talked about it and I always told him jokingly if he didn’t propose soon then I would. Then one day in his truck, in the middle of small argument about his attitude that past couple of weeks ( I kept catching him telling lies and he never lies to me), he proposed with out a ring. I thought he was joking because we joked around a lot and I told yes I would marry him someday. Then he said do you think I’m joking? I just started crying and of course said yes. A few days later he bought the ring he had been planning on getting and explained all his lies he had told were covering up his plan to propose and he had been talking with all our families and I kinda ruined it with the pestering about his attitude. 😅
7 years together, 4 years married, and two kids later we are still going strong. 🥰

Honestly 1 and 3 .... 
After 2 years I knew I wanted to marry this man and let him know that fact subtly and then not so over the following 4 years ...
I said in year 3 I wanted to be engaged by year 5 ... surely that'd enough time or I'd have to walk because I want the marriage and the whole shebang 
year 6 I was still with him so ultimatum I didn't stick too lol (was more of a empty threat anyway we both knew I wasn't going anywhere) and in the July of year 6 a few days after our anniversary he asked me! 
everyone has there own timelines .... don't let anyone else tell you "you should be be engaged by year xyz or its a dead end" - an old friend said this to me because she was engaged within 2 months of dating (known the guy 8 years) and pregnant within 3..... only she went on to have a 2nd child with him 2 years on and then split up completely, ues now married to another woman, she's had a child with someone else   .... where as me and my oh plodded along .... 6 years to engaged and we are planning our wedding for next year - 6 years from engaged. X

There was never an official "down on one knee, pull out a ring" proposal in my relationship.
We'd known each other for 7 years at the time (been romantically together about a year), and my mom was always teasing us about when we were gonna get married. One night we were laying in bed and he asked if I was interested in marrying him. I said yes, but I wanted to enroll and finish college first. He agreed and gave me the ring for Valentine's Day. 
6 years later, I graduated, and 3 weeks later we were married.

We had talked about getting engaged after a year of dating, but I didn’t think he would do it a year to the day. Our first date was Nov 30, so I thought maybe christmas we would talk about it. But he really surprised me by proposing on the anniversary of our first date. He put the ring in an old book, that he’d cut the inside of so it fit in. I said “seriously??” Instead of yes bc I was so surprised 😂 
Married 7 years, together for 9, 3rd baby arriving any day now. 0 regrets 🥰
