Getting very upset over quirky things?
My son has recently started having meltdowns over certain toys not sitting or fitting the "right" way. He pushes his stuffed animals in a wagon around the house for a long time some days, and he will get weirdly frustrated over the bears foot or arm not sitting right. He's very verbal and easily explains things, but he will just tell me his foot isn't sitting right. I try to fix it and he'll freak out and start crying because it's still not right. 😳 He's very opinionated over they way I hold his toys when playing (ex. Talking dinosaurs lol) and people sitting in the cars have to sit perfectly or he freaks out. I explain that sometimes the people are going to fall a bit, or sometimes I can't play the way he always wants me to. I try to distract by sitting his animals in the wagon facing each other and say something like "aww, they're talking to each other! Ok, push them around while they can face each other!" Lol.... I try to be patient! But the fits are ridiculous sometimes. Does this sound normal/typical??? If I can't help and he doesn't stop or gets worse I usually tell him "ok, we're going to take a break from this toy because it's too frustrating" and I get something else for him. And I provide hugs or emotional comfort if he wants it. 🤷
