How does your 2 months old nap?

Want to get some of your thoughts. Is 2-mo old too early for nap training? She was being rocked to sleep since birth but I am returning to work soon and my mom who is our babysitter won’t be able do that while also looking after my 2 years old. A friend told me she nap trained her son at 1-mo. 
And if your child falls asleep independently right now, can you please share how you get to that stage?
Also, I didn’t nap train my older one until she’s 9-mo old.

We started this process this week. Today is day 3 and I am so happy with our progress. I would call this something between sleep training and sleep transitioning.. my LO primarily slept on me every nap and through the night since birth. Sometimes I got her to sleep in a swing or a nap here and there in the bassinet but hit or miss and almost every night was in my arms all night long. Well now she is almost 9 weeks and I wanted to start the transition process. Any routine change they say takes a baby 3 days to adapt to it, and it seems to hold true. She does not fall asleep totally independently, and I’m ok with that because I know that will come later, but she is now sleeping in her bassinet for almost all naps and for the majority of the night. I can put her down for a nap in less then 10 mins and she hardly fusses. Here is what I did: 
Start your eat, wake, sleep routine. It won’t always work but try to make it work. Checkout the book babywise if you don’t know what eat, wake, sleep means. Watch closely for tired cues. Once you see them or at an hour and half of wake time, start nap time process.. this is key- have her sleep in the same place every single time day and night. Have it dark in the room, use a sound machine if you choose, and do the same routine to prepare her for sleep every time but at bedtime, add in a few more things like bath and changing into jammies so she knows it’s bedtime for the night. Swaddle, rock, use paci etc all ok, once she is almost asleep with eyes closing place her in bassinet but keep hands on chest until she drifts off. You can even gently rock her with your hand on her chest. Once in more sound sleep, your all set and if she wakes early just repeat. If she has fallen completely asleep in your arms or a swing, still put her to bed in her bed as normal. 
So key things- first day or 2 this will be awful and she will probably not sleep much because this is all new and she doesn’t know what’s going on but by day 3 she will get the hang of it and sleep better. Also, sleep props like rocking and paci are generally discouraged but at this point your goal is to get baby to sleep in her bed on her own so use whatever you need to do that, worry about losing sleep props around 12 weeks - not now. In the beginning short cat naps are expected but as you keep at it the naps will get longer.. most important don’t get discouraged. Repeat the process the same way every time to establish routine. Your baby loves routine and wants to know what to expect, this is how you communicate that. 
Last note- baby is too young to cry it out. If your baby wakes up crying, tend to her - don’t let her cry. Babies do not learn to self sooth until 3+ months earliest. If she is laying quietly awake, let her but no crying to sleep at this age.

My toddler refused any and all sleep as a new baby unless I was wearing him or he was in a swing. It was ROUGH. This baby LOOOOOVES his sleep and sleeps in his bassinet for naps and nighttime without a fight. Feeling super grateful to have a mellow, sleepy babe after our first was colicky and had a SERIOUS case of fomo

You can’t really nap train or sleep train at this age . You can try to lay baby down drowsy but awake but some babies need to be soothed to sleep and that’s normal .

Cant sleep train or nap train. Baby is too young. However you can encourage good sleep habits by putting the baby in their sleep space while they are drowsy and hope they fall asleep on their own. My oldest was rocked almost every day and held for nap until my husband went back to work 6 weeks after my second was born. So she was about 21 months. My youngest is rocked until shes asleep and placed into her space. Or she is placed in the swing and i keep an eye on her

I think they’re way too young for any sleep training. They just want to know they’re protected and safe at this age. Could baby fall asleep in a swing? Or your mom baby wear in a carrier?

Right from the beginning whenever our son fell asleep we would put him down in a sleep space. During the day it was the bassinet on our main floor and at night in his crib. Now all naps/sleep are in his crib. Sometimes for the naps we have to do a little rocking but for the most part once he shows his sleep cues we know to put him down and he falls asleep on his own. At first it was basically feed, sleep, feed, sleep. Now that he is older (9 weeks) he is up more after eating so we play and then follow his cues to nap. This does seem to follow the eat, play, sleep that others have talked about but sometimes after feedings he does want to sleep so we let him. You also don’t want an overtired baby as that can be just as bad as an under tired baby. At night we always have a bath at 7pm. We don’t soap every night but we make sure he at least gets wet and then we lotion, pjs, wrap him up, feed, read and bed. He is typically asleep by 8pm and doesn’t wake up until 4-6am the next day. We found been consistent with his night routine has helped a ton! We are slowly having more of a routine during the day but consistency with sleep space seemed to be key for us (baby). 
I’d say just begin putting baby down in the same sleep space for all naps/night sleeping and as awful as it might be at first it will be worth it in the end. I would also suggest if baby is being fussy don’t immediately pick up but rather try to soothe while baby is laying down. Patting tummy, rocking back and forth while hand on chest, saying shhhhh, rubbing babies forehead. Sometimes I have to do this 3 times before my baby finally does fall asleep if I’m doing it more than 5 times I will then pick up and rock but that’s very rare I get to that point now.

Look into taking cara babies! She’s on instagram, has a blog, and has classes you can purchase. She has a no cry method for sleep training.. we started immediately coming home from the hospital with our May baby since we also have a toddler. She actually prefers naps in her crib (or being held) opposed to anywhere else! She normally takes 4 naps a day, sometimes 5 if her naps were shorter and sleeps 8pm-7am with one dream feeding. Start rocking/soothing baby until drowsy, but awake and lay them down. Our girl takes a binky and we will have to go in during naps sometimes to replace it, but she is able to fall back asleep after getting it. I hold her for her nap while my toddler naps to get my baby snuggles in, but she always takes at least 2/4 naps a day in her crib.
