Anybody getting weekly scans?

My sister said at her practice she got weekly scans, non stress tests and bbp towards the end just as common practice. I’m due on Monday and haven’t had a scan since 36 weeks which I had to request - they don’t usually do that scan or any after 28 weeks. And no one has even mentioned a non stress test or bbp. I’m guessing it’ll never happen my last appointment is Monday on my due date they don’t even see people after 40 weeks. They just schedule induction for 41+4 if you’re still pregnant on your due date. My sister is telling me to ask for a growth scan and nst when I see them on my due date. Is that something I should do? Is there any good reason for it? I’m not sure what to do

Your sister was not told something or is not telling you something about her pregnancy then. I’m an ultrasound tech and patients don’t get NST’s and BPP’s just for the heck of it. Insurance doesn’t cover them if there is no reason. There’s always a reason for those exams. Most common reasons are advanced maternal age (35yrs+, gestational diabetes, maternal hypertension/pre eclampsia, history of covid, polyhydramnios (extra fluid) or there was something abnormal found on previous scans, etc. I would not ask for either NST unless there is a reason, which your doctor would have mentioned, or a growth scan, unless your fundal height is measuring off.

I’ve never had that happen, my OB doesn’t do ultrasounds past the anatomy scan unless they need to. As long as you’re feeling movement and heart rate is good at your appointments there’s no need for an NST.

Definitely only something they do if your high risk or something popped up at a regular appointment/scan that concerned them.
I’m 35 and labeled “AMA” so I’ve gotten lots of scans.  I actually go Monday at 37 weeks (if I make it that far).

I hve weekly sonos for biophysical profile and then once I’m at 39 weeks I think I get a stress test. My ob practice does it with all patients over a certain BMI which I fall into that category. Baby has passed w flying colors every time, they did it w my first too. Does give me peace of mind

I have both weekly, but only because I am 36. Never had them with any of my other four children. I was under 35 for all others.

Only when my pregnancy was high risk with my son did they do this other than that with my daughter and my current pregnancy its just a regular weekly checkup

Weekly scans are only common for 35+ yrs of age after 36 wks. And this is to check fluid, not growth. If you’re worried and want a ultrasound, you can tell the doc you’re experiencing low fetal movement. That’s about the only way insurance will cover it.

I use to go every 2 weeks but I was diagnosed with preeclampsia so I go every week and this coming Wednesday will be my last appointment and also my growth scan I do the nst testing every week and also ultrasounds to make sure baby is breathing good and she’s in position and im getting induced Sunday at 37+1
