Can you give your child your cousins name?

My cousins name is Maximilian. I do really like the name and we are expecting a son.
I barely see my cousin as we live in different places. He didn't come to my wedding and the last 5 year's I saw him once. Maybe if he moves closer we would see each other more often. 
My husband always loved the name. 
Is it a no-go or can I go for it?

It’s up to you. Nobody has all rights to a name and there’s no reason why you can’t use the same name as a family member. 
I personally wouldn’t out of my own personal preference, but that doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t.

My entire family uses James as a middle name because it was my grandfather’s name, so just about every boy(and one girl) has the middle name James. And like others said, its your baby and it’s just a name so you can use whatever name you want. And who knows maybe your cousin will feel flattered lol

I have a cousin named Benjamin and just gave it to my newborn son as a middle name. I don’t think it’s any big deal, especially as you don’t see him very often

you can still use it however, just be different with it. if you want to stick with the “M” try the name “Maverick” as well 🤷🏾‍♀️💙

My brother and our cousin have the same name.
My brothers son and our other cousins som have the same name.

My son's name is the same name as my cousin. I haven't seen him in awhile. When I told my aunt and uncle what I was naming my son, they found it really cool. I just really loved the name 🤷‍♀️

My cousin's name is Leo and I named my now-7yr old son Leo :) I've never really addressed it with him except for once throwing a "good name, hey ;) " line at my cousin via online chat (he's in England, I'm in Australia, we've only met once in real life). No one owns a name 😊 go for it!

My mother and her sister both loved the same name, my aunt used it first because she had the first girl, my mom got pregnant a year later but waited until her second pregnancy five years after that to use the name, so I have a younger sister and a cousin with the same name but different spelling lmao we think it’s funny 🤷🏼‍♀️
