Is whole milk for filling ?

Maybe a silly question but is whole milk more filling than formula? Ever since I started mixing whole milk with formula, my son seems to be eating less solids. I can’t think of any other reasons why that might be.
Edit: I mix his formula with water first with the correct ratio. Then I add whole milk to the bottle as a way of slowly introducing whole milk

The replies I’ve read in this post have absolutely gobsmacking me. “Shouldn’t be giving formula” “stop immediately mixing water and milk because your diluting it”
Please don’t take any of it onboard. They sound like idiots. Follow your doctors advice, if your unsure contact your maternal health nurse. You can supplement your child with milk as long as you want or if you feel they are satisfied with whole foods that’s fine too. Slowly introducing the dairy is a good idea as it can cause upset stomach if it’s too much at once.
Another trick I did was when I’d change to the next age bracket formula tin, ie 1yr+, 2yr+, I’d mix the tins for a few weeks slowly increasing the amount of the new formula , that way the new formulation wouldn’t upset his tummy (I made the mistake of not doing that when I change from newborn formula & he got terrible diarrhoea & upset tummy.) It worked well!

Whole milk is filling, yes, because inherently milk is more filling than water. So it would make sense, because of the density of the liquid to fill your baby tummy up.
Also, like BB said, don’t listen to some of these self-proclaimed doctor-moms that have zero idea what they’re talking about. I don’t know the correct answer about age and amount, but obviously listen to your doctor because they are the ones who know exactly what you and baby needs. Much love, good luck momma! 💕

I did what you are doing to introduce whole milk to my LO. He had a very sensitive tummy and pediatrician, dietitian, and pediatric GI all suggested I switch gradually (to avoid back and forth diarrhea/constipation and also avoid him rejecting the taste of the milk).
To answer your original question - yes, whole milk tends to be more filling because of the fat content. But it’s also lacking in other nutrition your child needs. If they seem to be eating less solids now that they are getting milk, try giving the milk in a sippy or other cup throughout the day as opposed to in a bottle. That’s what I had to do with my son because he’d take his milk first thing in the morning (just because of routine and that being what he was used to) and then he didn’t want to eat breakfast. You just have to monitor how much milk he’s drinking during the day - aim for 16-24 oz per day. If he’s not getting that amount, you can talk to your ped about other Vitamin D and calcium rich foods to make sure he’s getting all the nutrition he needs.

You never mix formula powder with milk always water. A child over 1 year of age can have whole milk but not younger.

If your son is over 1, he shouldn't be having formula anymore and you can switch cold turkey (not as a replacement). If you are just using up what you have left, I would still just offer whole milk as a separate beverage and see if he takes it. Really, they don't need the milk if they are eating balanced meals.. its just an easy way to get those vitamins and fats.
