How long would you let your friend crash on your couch rent free?

Just here binge watching people’s court and there’s this case of two bffs of 15yrs. Macy let Susan crash on her couch rent free (Susan also had no job?) for about 8 months. Once Susan found a job and got her own place, Macy wanted Susan to finish getting all of her belongings out of her house. Well Susan didn’t like Macy asking her 2-3 times when she’s gonna take the rest of her stuff & Susan BLEW UP and Macy. Calling her a drug addict, a terrible mom , etc. Insane ! 
Oh and Susan only contributed to half of the light bill and some groceries.
How long would y’all let your bestie crash on your couch until they got back on their feet?

Depends on the situation. If they had something bad happen...lost a house in a fire, had to.leave an abusive situation and had no where to go, kicked out unexpectedly, etc and were working towards getting a place it might be a few weeks as long as I could see them making an effort. If it was just that lazy friend who got evicted for too many noise complaints due to parties or lost their job for just not showing up and could pay rent-something like that.  Maybe a night or 2 then out. But it all depends on the friend and the situation. Some people will take advantage and some won't.  I couldn't have a clear cut x # of  weeks across the board

A couple of nights. I don’t have enough money to provide for 2 adults and a child. If she isn’t contributing then she can’t stay.

No. A night or two is one thing but any longer than that is too much for me

Depends on the person and situation. If I where in a space where I could provide for an entire other human being, I’d have kids already. I’m not going to break my back for you unless you are family or a super close friend who I know would do the same for me.
