Potty Training Round 1

We are just starting to potty train our 28 month old son. We’ve had a training potty for months that he has practiced sitting in, we got him all excited about buying and wearing underwear, the past couple weeks he’s had a couple naps with dry diapers, and he knows what poop and pee are.

We started training yesterday - all day in his underwear (excluding nap and bedtime). Every 15 min we take him to the potty seat for potty time. We are already running out of ways to entice him to sit on his potty. We’ve done story time, coloring, playing with a variety of toys, but after 24 hours of that he seems to have gotten bored and now doesn’t want to sit on the potty and none of our ideas really get him to sit there very long. He has peed on the potty 5 times total, and had 6+ accidents. Im just worried we started too soon and now I’m not sure exactly where to go from here. I know once you start you can’t really stop so now I’m trying to figure out what to do when we send him to daycare tomorrow? And what my steps should be going forward with the coming days/weeks? Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.
