Before or after?

Question

My son will be turning one on October 20th which is a Wednesday. I’m trying to figure out if it’d make more sense to have his party the weekend before or after. With my daughter her birthday happened to have landed on a Sunday so I didn’t have this problem lol.
I’m leaning towards the weekend before since  the weekend after I had my cousin’s wedding too (except on Sunday.) I asked my boyfriend his opinion but he just said I don’t know🙄 
Also if it helps we’d be having another party for my side of the family that can’t come to the first one.

We never celebrate before. It’s just a tradition that comes from superstition. Basically, if the celebration comes before then the actual won’t happen. We don’t risk it with birthdays for sure!

I've always liked doing them before because that way, when the party is over, there's still the actual birthday to look forward to! 🎂😊

I have 4 sisters and many of my family members work weekends so I do my kids’ birthday parties whenever the most people are available. Sometimes it’s before, sometimes after. My first kid’s birthday is only a week before one of my sisters’ birthday so I try to do hers before so they don’t have to share (they don’t mind sharing but any excuse for extra birthday cake ya know).

My daughter’s bday this yr was on a Thursday so what I did was get a small cake for her but celebrated with a big party on weekend of the week. 
I never liked celebrating bdays before the actually date.

Mine and my husband's family live in 2 different states. My son's bday was 8/10. So we had his families on the 7th and mine is the 21st. On the actual day we just did something with our little family (mom, dad and baby)
