Why can't people take no for an answer. 😡

It's my grandmother's funeral on Monday and my sisters and cousins are HOUNDING me to be a part of the eulogy. I have said no 100 times (OK gross exaggeration) and if it were socially acceptable, I wouldn't even go to her funeral.
She was awful to me at times. And somewhat decent to me when it suited her. But the things she did to me.... I can't get over them and I've harboured resentment over it for years.
Sorry, but no. I am not going to stand there and pretend she was the world's best grandmother. She was mean to me. She belittled me and was downright abusive at times.

You are NOT required to speak or even attend her funeral. 
You can always say it’s for personal reasons but just be ready for follow up questions and weird looks. My family would hopefully understand but I can’t speak for yours.

I simply HATE funerals in general. Funerals are for thr living and so I always got so mad when my mom would pressure and force me to go even though it made me uncomfortable. I like to mourn in private, I don't want to cry in front of dozens of people. For your case, you have every right not to attend, especially speaking thr eulogy and have to lie about your grandmother and pretend everything is fine. I would consider going to keep the peace and making your family happy, and just not speak the eulogy, but that's just what I would do. I know it's easier said than done. You wouldn't be out of bounds to just not show up at all.
