Is my IUD out of place?

I got an IUD a week ago and have been having really bad cramps, almost unbearable. I checked the string length and I think it got longer and I started bleeding similar to a light period and the cramps got worse. Some parts of the day I feel completely fine, other parts I’m in a ton of pain. I’m supposed to start my period right now, but I don’t think it is my period. Should I go and get my IUD checked? Is it possible it moved or perforated my uterus?

That sounds normal for one week. I had daily cramps and spotting for almost 2 months after getting mine. It’s now been 8 months and I just get a small light period once a month.

No, if it got longer then it didn’t hurt your uterus. I had a very similar experience to you. The cramps lasted a few weeks off and on. Also, my string length definitely changed drastically throughout the month. That’s just how my body changes throughout my cycle. Try giving it another week and see how things go.
