Am I overreacting?

Question

You invite your boyfriend to lunch on thursday and he says "we will see after saturday, I've spent so much this week" so saturday rolls around and he says hes going to buy booze and go home and drink ..... after just saying he just spent a lot of money this week. 
Am I overreacting to be annoyed at this ?

I’d be annoyed too. They could’ve at least invited you to drink with em lol. Or if they just didn’t wanna hang they should’ve said that.

I always encourage possible friends to be honest with me when it comes to plans, because I can’t stand this shit. It’s a waste of my time and energy but inevitable when it happens! I would say, “oh, you didn’t remember we were going to hang out depending on your money situation?” If they avoid me, eh didn’t really need a non-communicative friend to begin with. If they admit and say yeh they just don’t feel like hanging out, I assure them it is fine to tell me so, no hard feelings and to enjoy their evening. I noticed that really helps. Just gotta not be afraid to call attention to it.
People say things like that are “nice ways of turning you down,” but I just think it’s rude.
