He said he needs to figure something out first

I was dating this boy for 7 months and really like him but two months ago he broke up with me. He pulled that it's me not you bullshit. He said that he's young (we are both 22) and he's trying to find out who he is and his feelings and he wants to take time experimenting and finding the person he is. I asked why he can't figure himself out with me, and he said it's complicated. I sent him a lon message today telling him that I still love him and he said he does still have feelings for me. I asled did he experiment and figure himself out and if we can get back together. He said he doesn't know and he needs to do something first. I said something or "someone" and he said it's complicated and he can't talk to me about it because this a war with him and himself. What does any of this mean?
