International travel with 3 year old
My husband and I will be traveling from Europe to USA (from US but son has never been there) in a couple months. We will have at least 2 flights. One short(1.5 to 4 hours) and one long(6.5 to 10 hours). We haven’t decided the flight yet but know we will be flying into one of the NYC airports. The plan is to stay in NYC for a couple days to get over the jet lag and then proceed to home in another state(another short flight).
We have traveled(by plane) before with our son when he was 4 months and 16 months old, before COVID.
Any recommendations and/or advice? Not just for traveling with our son but anything. Has anyone traveled internationally(or domestically) since the pandemic? Are things different? What should I know? I know we have to get tested for COVID and have negative results no more than 72 hours before traveling and that our 3 year old might be expected to wear a mask at all times during our travels. That is something he hasn’t dealt with because kids under 12 don’t wear masks here.
Clearly I’m anxious and nervous but I know we have to get back to US so we just have to do this and now is the time. I really appreciate any thoughts because honestly I’m overthinking it and any way for me to be more calm about it all will help.
