When will you start your babies on purées? And cereal in their bottles? I get that itsnot recommended just asking for positive comments not negative

I don’t think cereal or anything else besides breastmilk or formula should go in a bottle. That’s what I was taught in my prenatal classes and the breastfeeding class.
About when to start solids, I’m thinking when my baby is around 6 months I will start if signs of readiness are there. I am thinking of skipping purees and going to soft solids. It’s a method called baby led weaning. It apparently is helpful in preventing picky eating because babies learn to feed themselves and they can feel the textures of foods as you introduce them. The foods in the beginning just need to be soft enough, like ripe avocadoes or steamed sweet potato strips.

I just had a conversation with our physician abt this because our parents keeping asking us the same question. The topic of cereal in a bottle has evolved over the last couple of years. I believe the current recommendations is to not put cereal in the bottle (even though my parents and in laws swear by it). I'm leaning against doing that and instead going straight to purees. If we do cereal, it will be spoonfed once he's a lil older. In terms of food, my physician said we can start around the 5 month mark. I'll probably start with homemade puree. Many of my friends did either homemade or store bought and honestly it depends on how much time you have. It different to say you are going to do all of these things if you have one child but if you have multiple kids and you work full time, it's a lot of work. Organic store bought is a good option as well. Good Luck!

My pediatrician told us to start between 4-6 months with purées. So we had one night of oatmeal cereal mixed with formula by itself ans then we went to oatmeal cereal Mixed with formula and added a scoop of purée. They say at 4-6 months it’s for taste/texture not nourishment, their prime source of nourishment is still breastmilk or formula. We started at 4 months and are at 5 months now. Never put any of that in a bottle because of the choking hazard. 
Also, started at 4 months because he showed interest. When we reach 6 months, I plan to do both purées and some small soft foods like baby led weaning. I like the combo approach personally.

Started light puree's at 3.5 months. He was showing signs of being ready. Still hungry after breastfeeding. This is baby #3 for me. ( 18 year old, 13 year old & 3.5 months)

I think I’m leaving it up to her, when she shows signs of readiness, we will start. So somewhere between 4-6 months. We still start with purées and gradually introduce soft foods. We don’t do cereal in the bottle, that is for reflux issues primarily. If anything, we will give her a little cereal as a meal but she is fine on bottles with just her milk.

As for foods, I will start at 6 months per the recommendations. I will be doing baby led weaning rather than purées though. We did purées with our first and baby led weaning with our second and much preferred the baby led weaning.
