Suddenly high BP = early induction?
So I am 36 weeks today and had a routine visit this afternoon. My blood pressure is usually around 100/90 and has been throughout the pregnancy. However, today it was 137/90, really close to the 140/90 threshold at my doctor’s office for very high BP.
In addition, my feet are staying somewhat swollen pretty constantly now and my fingers are swelling a bit too. The swelling started at the beginning of the third trimester but used to go down easily once my feet were raised and I was resting. Not so much anymore. It’s slightly worse in my right foot, but no pain or anything.
My doctor wants to see me back in 1 week instead of 2 (at 37 weeks) and probably every week after that. He let me know that if my BP does pass that 140 threshold, I will need to be induced within 24-48 hours.
I ordered a blood pressure cuff and some compression socks, but the doctor said there isn’t really anything else I can do. I’m working from home and off my feet the majority of the time as it is, and he thinks further rest wouldn’t help much.
What do you think is the likelihood that I’ll have to be induced as early as next week? I’m a little freaked out because up until now everything has gone really well, so I was feeling good about having another month left!
