What do contractions feel like?

I'm scared about giving birth and have a question: are contractions inside your lady bits or are they in the lower abdomen? What do they feel like??

In the beginning it’s similar to period cramps. They intensify of course and some people feel them in their back (also referred to as back labor). They become very intense as you progress but I wouldn’t say you feel them in your “lady bits.” As baby comes down in station you will start to feel pressure in your cervix, vagina and rectum.

They can be different for every person and labors. With my first they felt like period cramps at first (which I only got in my back), as they got stronger I felt them all across my belly, I felt them more at the top of my uterus than down low. With my second when labor started they felt like poop cramps lol, but when they were stronger I felt it all in my hips, I could’ve sworn my hip bones were going to shatter during my active labor with him.

I only ever felt them in my back. I felt pressure on my stomach, but my back pain was far worse than frontal. Aka back labor. Its like a long stinging cramp that builds up intensity.

It can vary. Some feel them in their lower back as well. But for me, it was an intense cramp that held on for about 20 seconds before releasing. Best to just breathe through....

I've only had one labor so far, and mine felt like a blood pressure sleeve that went all around my belly and back. The pressure got more intense into transition, but honestly that's how I would describe it - pressure and not pain.

I've had 2 babies and the contractions were entirely different both times. The first time it was all in my belly. It felt like my entire stomach was tightening to push him out. With my second, they were entirely in my pelvis. There's also back labor, which I haven't experienced yet. My mom just felt like she had to poop. So there's no one answer to this question.

Mine felt like rubbing on on my hips/pelvic area. Enough discomfort to stop me in my tracks. 
It wasn’t until my waters broke that I had the intense pain/cramping in my stomach.
