Varicoceles, NHS treatment HELP NEEDED
After 3 years of trying we are still not getting anywhere. 18 months ago my husband was referred to a urologist with the NHS. After a couple of telephone calls (due to Covid) he was finally seen in May this year and told he has severe varicoceles on the left side. He was told he’d need surgery and we would need IVF but needs blood test and ultrasound first. Within a month he had the ultrasound appointment and we were finally thinking things were moving for us. The ultrasound was in June, he then got an appointment for another telephone call for October which we were assuming was the scan results as he has heard nothing else. Well yesterday…a letter came through cancelling the October telephone call and it’s re booked for March 2022. I am beyond angry that they can think it’s acceptable to move an appointment that far away. That would work out as 9 months since the ultrasound!! This isn’t even booking the surgery so who knows how long that could take.
I have contacted them with a very strong worded email but know it won’t help.
My question is do you think it’s worth going private and giving IVF a go with icsi without the surgery or sit it out and wait? We are now in our mid 30s and each month that goes by know our time is ticking fast.
Anyone please help we are based in London if you have any recommendations.
