North Carolina maternity leave question

I currently live in NY where we have an 18 week maternity leave. 6 weeks are under FMLA where I receive a small check plus can use my pto from work, and 12 weeks is paid from the state.

We are looking to relocate to North Carolina but want to have another baby. Can someone explain the leave that’s offered there? From what I’ve looked up it seems that it’s only a 12 week unpaid leave and you must be employed for a minimum of 12 months? What happens if you’re only employed for 6 months, are you not able to take a leave?
