How do you clean your mattress?

I want to clean my mattes. I feel like I’ve been getting allergies from it as it’s a few years old and has never been cleaned. Which is disgusting, I know. 
How do you clean your mattress? Looking for a safe non toxic way to clean it.

Vacuum it and then use a steam cleaner and then let it completely dry before putting sheets on. But if you steam clean it I would put on a mattress protector after before putting on sheets because then you can just wash the mattress protector every so often . And of course keep washing your sheets.

This is what I use: 
baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and a steam vacuum will save your mattress. I do it at least once a year to mine and omg the difference is sometimes disgusting lol

I’m curious to see what other people say. You could try laying it in the sun all day. If you don’t have a good washable mattress pad, get one.
