Toddler tooth extraction

Question

I don’t know where else to get answers but my toddlers teeth are very bad. Top front 4 teeth are chipped to the gums. I’m just wondering if anyone out there has had their toddler go through tooth extraction surgery or any sort of surgery for their teeth. Were you able to be with them in the room? What questions did you ask? Anything I should worry about? I’m just so scared and nervous for my girl. She’s turning 3 next month.

So first off ignore the catty women below.  Secondly, I’m a dental hygienist and faced a similar issue with my son.  He just had cavities, not the chipping.  I’m not going to defend myself because I know what the heck I’m talking about.  But yes, he had surgery in a hospital.  He’s mildly autistic.  You are not allowed back in the operating system room.  This will sound dramatic, but it was one of the worst days in my life.  Everything went just fine… but it was the most anxious I have ever felt.  So don’t waste your time blaming yourself.  I would just ask the dentist what he or she thinks is the problem.  Genetics? Too much sugar? Wrong foods? Hypominerlization? Food pocketing? Oral musculature issues? Wrong toothbrush or toothpaste? Etc.  Contrary to the catty comments below, oral health problems in children can be cause from a very broad spectrum of issues and not just neglect.  The fact that you’re being proactive in getting it fixed tells me all I need to know.  If you want any suggestions on how to help after you speak to the dentist I am here.

You need to find a pediatric dentist and take it from there. I’m honestly concerned that her teeth are that bad this young and it seems neglectful to let 1 tooth chip to the gum, let alone 4. You may want to address the issue with your pediatrician too because that many teeth essentially breaking off might be caused by a vitamin deficiency or something. Please help her establish and oral hygiene routine.

I don't have this problem but maybe you should look into buying an electric toothbrush for kids like the ones Oral B, Burst and others sell as well as the dental floss for kids and brush their teeth. Electric toothbrushes are usually recommended by dentist over the manual toothbrushes and some come with a timer on it. 
And in terms of extractions, follow the dentists instructions with aftercare.

2 of my kids had to get dental work done when they were 2 years old. They had to have it done at a hospital  and be put under during it. Their front top teeth were awful too. They had horrible cavities.  I did everything right. I bruhed their teeth all the time and made them healthy meals and it didn't make a difference. The dentist told me it was genetic and there was nothing I could have done. When they had it done we brought them to the hospital early in the morning and the dentist took them back to an operating room for a couple hours and when they were done they brought them to a recovery room to wake up and then we were able to go back by them. They were very disoriented when they woke up and thirsty but I was still breastfeeding them both times so I was able to comfort them right away with that. 
My advice is to find a dentist you trust and go from therd.
