Labour and induction!

I am 37+3 with second baby, and due to be induced on the 9th via balloon. I had my midwife appointment on Wednesday and from that day I have had irregular contractions. The midwife checked my cervix to see how I was coming along and said I am closed but very very soft with a small amount of mucus there. I hadn’t lost any of my plug. Funny enough though Thursday morning (yesterday) I start loosing some parts of my plug and it’s clearish and have been loosing bits by bits. She said I will see you Wednesday again if your still pregnant and not had baby and I said are you sure is that not too soon and she said that the way things are going it really could be soon. Question is, if my plug is coming out does that mean the contractions I am having are dilating my cervix? Xxx
