Are all women being induced??

Everyone I know who is pregnant and close to their due date are all being scheduled for induction , so I was wondering is this being done due to Covid and they rather schedule inductions rather than having women come in when they go into labor naturally so that the hospitals aren’t packed?

I do feel the rate of induction is rising. I don’t personally care if someone gets induced but it makes me wonder how many are legitimate ones, and how many are just to schedule a birth.

My husband is a family medicine physician. Not OB, but he has heard through other colleagues that the OB (it’s a small town so he’s literally 1 of 2 OBs) has been known to schedule inductions/cesareans to avoid being on call at certain times. 🤷‍♀️
Unless they can give you a valid medical reason, you don’t have to consent. But don’t be stubborn if it truly is necessary for safety reasons. 👍🏻

No. Inductions are done for a specific reason. They could be getting close to being overdue with no start of labor in sight, it could be because of blood pressure issues, or something to do with the health of the mother or baby. 
If everything is fine and dandy then the rule of thumb is to let your body naturally do it’s thing.

Idk how true this is but I have read that some OBs are more likely to induce around holidays because they want to try and guarantee that they won’t have to be at a birth during that holiday 😬 Halloween is this weekend so maybe??🤷‍♀️

My water broke, waiting 12 hours with no change, then started Pitocin to speed things along. So I think technically I was induced but it wasn’t scheduled.

I was scheduled to have an elective induction at 39 weeks. My doctor never bought it up, I mentioned it first. Ended up not needing it and gave birth the morning it was scheduled.

No. I was schedule for an induction for 40+5 because my doctor wouldn’t let me go any further and I went into natural labor the night before and ended up giving birth on induction day.

I think ppl do it out of convenience, some are done for medical necessity, if I could be induced at 39 weeks I would just like w my 3 other inductions.  I’m 35 weeks and already 1cm, I’m hoping I’ll have advance dilation before 39 weeks so they’ll Bruce me 😎 you don’t have to be though.
